Storage

  • Store unopened vials at controlled room temperature.
  • After first puncture, follow the manufacturer’s storage recommendations.
  • Discard if the solution becomes cloudy, discolored, or contains visible particles.
  • Use only if the vial seal is intact.

Protocol Overview

Bacteriostatic Water is used as a sterile diluent for reconstituting certain medications and laboratory compounds supplied as a lyophilized powder.

General preparation steps include:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly.
  2. Clean both vial stoppers with an alcohol swab.
  3. Draw the desired amount of Bacteriostatic Water into a sterile syringe.
  4. Inject the water slowly against the inside wall of the powder vial to minimize foaming.
  5. Allow the powder to dissolve naturally. Gently swirl if needed—avoid vigorous shaking unless specifically instructed by the product manufacturer.
  6. Once fully dissolved, the solution is ready for use according to the directions for the specific product.

  • Inspect the solution before use. Do not use if it is cloudy, discolored, or contains particulate matter.
  • Follow the administration instructions provided for the specific product being used.
